A New Name...

So I have come up with a new name for my photography- Izagael Photography.  It was called 'Shutterbug' but it never really stuck in my mind, I can't explain why.  But hopefully this change will bring some good luck for me and success.

I have realized that I need to start thinking of how I will do things- how I will conduct my business, what customers will expect, all that.  I have come up with a customer agreement to be signed, not to make customers feel untrusted but for the opposite effect- I would hope that knowing exactly what will be expected and everything being drawn out on paper will bolster some confidence when I do my work.  I am still in the process of coming up with prices for when someone wants some phots taken- I don't want to charge too much yet at the same time, don't want to undercharge.  Going to research, think and plan, come up with some prices and deals that will hopefully draw people to hire me every now and then.

Had a bit of panic attack today thinking about all this and the gamble I'm taking- yes, I will admit that I second-guessed my talent.  I've never had an ego on my work, admitting yes, that I have some talent but also can see where I could use some improvment.  By finally taking that little leap, albeit small as I'm not doing this full-time almost what you would call 'part-time part-time', I'm wondering if it will bust or not.  I'm sure it will work out- I'm not expecting huge things right off the bat but rather just the chance to get my name out and more experience to work from.

Anyways, next posting will include some of my own personal photos that I think are a good example of what I do best.

It all starts with a little idea...and some hope ;)

So I'm finally wiping the dust off this unused blog of mine and putting into use- WELCOME! Please forgive the musty smell of having been long forgotten and enter my world!

My name is Kayte and I am a fledgling photographer, just starting to hone my skills and see where this road will take me.  Currently, it's purely a hobby- something that I'm enjoying taking up and learning about.  I purchased a Nikon d40 body and 18-55mm lense over just over 2 years ago and it is my baby (well after my real baby).  Since then, I still have those as well as 2 other lenses, the details of which are escaping me at the moment.  I have little filters, too, that help me when I need them.  This small collection is what I work with currently.

My goal would be to purchase some newer lenses as the two 'newest' ones are actually used, possibly about 10 to 15 years old or if not, older.  They still do an amazing job and I love them as much as my much newer 18-55mm auto-focus lens that came with the body of camera.  But inevitably, I need to purchase something that has the option of auto focus- these 2 lens are strictly manual and, at times, that can be a real pain in the rump when you don't have the time to focus on the fly.

Like I've mentioned, my interest is purely as a hobby.  A lot of my photos that will be posted in later posts to this space will be of my children, pets, the area I live in.  There may be some of people that agree to allow me to take photos of them but I'm still working on my confidence level, so that may take some time.  All photos will be the best from all that I've taken, at least from my own humble opinion- I am open to hearing thoughts on each photo but mostly it is for the enjoyment of myself.  It is for me to show the world what I love, whether it is really good or just really good from my point of view.

One day, when I have enough time and some money to purchase some things that will make my new business flow easier, I will start to take clients.  My aim and focue, as it is always with my work, is purely candids.  I find that is my strength and what I enjoy the best- going to places or being somewhere and just snapping- I am happy to take millions of photos and destilling that collection down to the few shots that seem to capture the moment best.  I am not afraid to take bad shots, as some shots that seem bad at the time turn into the most amazing photos.  You will rarely see me do posed photos and even more rarely see me do portaits like those found in portrait studios- I leave that niche open to those that enjoy that kind of work.  And I also hate how fake some portraits can seem.  For me, I like seeing the emotion, the enjoyment, the story that comes from photos taken by chance.

But that is all for this first post.  I will try to post as soon as possible- being a mom seems to keep me from posting on my blogs as often as I want but I do try.  Please keep checking back or follow my page if you would like what you have read so far.

Thanks for stopping by
